One Piece has sold approximately 517 million units of manga in 26 years (1999). Manga is a Japanese comicbook. 517 million sold qualifies Eiichirô Oda for the most manga sold of all time and thus One Piece has become one of the greatest works of fiction of all time. As you can see in the table below One Piece has almost caught up to other best selling comicbook Superman which started way back in 1938. One Piece also rivals the global phenomenon that was the Harry Potter Series. The stark difference there being that Oda seeks out to empathize and humanize people, not demonize as J.K. Rowling has very publicaly done.
