The Rules of Dungeons and Dragons

In dungeons and dragons everyone at the table with have a total of 7 dice, these are what you will be using to progress your character and make choices. All of the dice have there own use here and there but the one you will be using almost all the time is the large 20 sided dice. Any time your character chooses to do something, attack, or use a skill the DM or dungeon master running your game will ask you to roll your 20 sided dice to see how sucessful you are at the task you have set out to do. Most of the time you always want to roll a high number because the higher the number the better you did, if you roll a 20 on a 20 sided dice that is what is known as a natural 20 and is always an instant sucess no matter what. The other dice are used for damage and other smaller roles that the DM wants you to make. The biggest rule to keep in mind is that the DM or dungeon master who is running your game always, no matter what, has final say over the rulings of the game. I know it may sound weird to say in a rules guide about DND but every single one of the rules in the DND handbook are simply placeholders and your table can run an entirely different set of rules than another table does, that is what makes dungeons and dragons such a fun game to play.
